Set a date for the Newport Show 2009

Set a date for the Newport Show 2009

July 18 sees the 100th event and organisers are planning to make it a bumper one, with a packed programme of traditional farming attractions and family entertainment. Chetwynd Deer Park, with its beautiful lake, will once again provide a stunning countryside setting for one of Britain's premier one-day shows.

Visitors can enjoy a full day of non-stop entertainment which includes motorcycle stuntman Jamie Squibb (pictured) performing death-defying jumps in the main ring. This year's show will be an even bigger attraction for 'foodies' with a fantastic Food Festival where families can sample some of the region's finest delicacies and see live cookery demonstrations. There will be all the familiar farming classes, craft competitions and horticultural displays as well as trade stands galore and panoramic views for picnics.

Mums and dads will find loads to entertain them and their children - and look out for a celebrity judge mingling with the crowds. More than 12,000 people enjoyed last year's show and organisers are hoping for thousands more. Show president, Robert Watson Jones, said: "Preparations are already in full swing to make this show one to remember."
