Recession-Busting Weekend Planned For Top Gifts At Stokesay Castle
28th & 29th November 2009
With visitor numbers up over the summer as people enjoyed their holidays at home, Stokesay Castle is helping people with their Christmas shopping, offering 10% off everything from stocking-filler toys to replica armour and swords - with a Christmas trail to keep the children busy, too!
On the weekend of 28th & 29th November, the site will be uncorking bottles of traditional wines and opening chutneys for two days of tastings and savings! Literally everything in the shop will be discounted by 10%, including the best-selling range of liqueurs, chocolates, tapestries and even swords and helmets!
Whilst mums are browsing in the shop, dads can help the children complete Stokesay Castle's Reindeer Trail, hunting around the grounds to find the names of all the reindeer models. Anyone finding all of the errant deer will be rewarded with a delicious candy cane.
"People come back to our gift-shop year after year to find unusual gifts, and our retail weekend is absolutely the best time to do it," says visitor operations manager, Nola Ames. "Every weekend until Christmas, we'll be offering visitors samples of our best-selling range of traditional wines and liqueurs - including the newly launched Christmas mead - so that they can try before they buy, and really get into the festive spirit!"
Anyone looking for exceptionally unusual gifts might want to consider the range of replica armour available from Stokesay Castle, including swords, priced from £60 to £275, or even a pair of shiny steel gauntlets, priced at £83.95 - perfect protection for when you are pruning the holly ready for Christmas wreathes!
Stokesay Castle is open throughout the winter every Thursday to Sunday from 10.00am to 4.00pm. Admission prices are £5.20 for adults, £4.40 for concessions and £2.60 for children, with a family ticket available for £13.00.
