Take Off for Learning
Major Refurbishment of RAF Museum Cosford's
Flying Experience
Due for take off on 30th January 2009, the “Let’s Fly” classroom has been transformed into a mini airport, with conveyor belt and security gate, enabling children to participate in the entire holiday flight experience from Check In through to Passport Control before actually boarding onto an aeroplane, thanks to the innovative use of genuine aircraft seating and fuselage to mimic a jumbo jet.
Children from St Johns Primary School from Essington, Wolverhampton will be attending the launch which will be opened by Group Captain James, Director of Training at DCAE Cosford.

Claire Eccleston, the Education Assistant responsible for the development of this project adds:
“One of the highlights of this refurbishment has been working in partnership with other internal and external groups. The results are staggering and provide schools with a wonderful learning opportunity about the experience and fun aspects of flight”.
This exciting project was funded by the Aerospace Museum Society, volunteers at the Museum, who donated over £1,500 towards the project. During the academic year 2007/2008 over 1,200 pupils aged 3-7 visited the ‘Let’s Fly’ classroom for workshops aimed at foundation stage and key stage 1.
