We have it all, from unique independent shops, dedicated walking and cycling routes to scenic picnic spots and family attractions. There are so many fantastic ways to spend days out in Telford Shropshire.
Walk amongst the Victorians at Blists Hill Victorian Town, featured on BBC2's Victorian Pharmacy. Canal Street is a must-see, with its drapers, photographers, sweet shop and fried fish dealers.
In the Town Park, you’ll also find Wonderland, where children can meet characters from books and nursery rhymes or if the weather’s not at it’s best, take them to Jungleland to try out the indoor soft play area with a train where children under 12 can run wild!
Or take a trip on the Severn Valley Railway in Bridgnorth – a fully restored steam railway that takes visitors along the river valley to Bewdley and Kidderminster.

Around the Wrekin Local Ride

The ride leaves the Bicycle Hub in the Park via NCN 55 to the Ironbridge Gorge.

Cross the river via the Memorial bridge at Jackfield and follow the signs to the Tile Museum, going past the Museum on the NCN 45 along to the Iron Bridge, and then passed the Green Wood Centre (well worth a visit).The climb up is a bit tough but you can always walk and enjoy the surroundings.
You cross over the Buildwas bypass and ride on to Little Wenlock, a much smaller village than its sister Much Wenlock. Then a swooping decent takes you past the Wrekin on your right. If you want to add to your trip, take a walk up the Wrekin to enjoy the views across Shropshire. This will add approximately 1 - 2 hours to your day.
Past the Wrekin, take a left to Rushton on the west side of the Wrekin. Ride on down to Leighton, where on your right there's a view across to the Ironbridge Gorge with one of many meanders on the River Severn. The route takes you back along the River Severn through Ironbridge. You'll pass the Iron Bridge on your right. Continue to Coalport where you take the Memorial Footbridge, by the Shakespeare Pub, to the Boat Inn. Follow the road back to the Bicycle Hub. Total distance 17 miles. |
The Bridgnorth Linear and Steam Railway

This route follows the river Severn, tracing the original Severn Valley Railway to give you one of the most secluded and prettiest traffic-free rides in England.

The ride leaves the Bicycle Hub in the Park via NCN 55 to the Ironbridge Gorge. Cross the river via the the Memorial bridge at Jackfield and turn left to pick up NCN 45 to Bridgnorth.
The ride will require a day to maximise your enjoyment with lunch in Bridgnorth, or if you wish, can be extended with a trip on the Severn Valley Railway. |

The Heritage Ride starts from the Bicycle Hub in the Park on the NCN 55 down towards the Ironbridge Gorge. After about a mile and half you will cross a bridge over a main road, then immediately over another above an old railway, shortly after this turn right under along 'Rough Park Way'. Follow this woodland route, adjacent to the railway just mentioned, until you arrive in Coalbrookdale right next to the railway viaduct, which you will see towering above you.
Follow the road down to Ironbridge - a super descent gentle enough and wide enough for all. At the Merrythought Teddy Bear Factory turn left along the Wharfage of Ironbridge and you will come across the Iron Bridge on your right. Walk your bicycle across the bridge. Imagine having to pay your toll - just after the First World War was the last time that it was enforced. Turn left into the car park and you are back onto NCN Route 45 and the Severn Valley Railway line which will lead you back towards Jackfield. Follow NCN 45 past the Tile Museum and Maws Craft Centre looking out for signs for NCN 55 the Silkin Way back over the river via the Jackfield Memorial Bridge. Follow NCN55 back to the Bicycle Hub in the Park, where you can explore the old withy pools in the Park. |
