Wroxeter Hotel backs Bike Week
Wroxeter Hotel has put the wheels in motion to get people back on their bikes as part of national bike week.
Guests and visitors to the cycle friendly Wroxeter Hotel can hire a bike during their stay and join in the national event aimed at getting Shropshire people fit and having fun.
Hotel staff are gearing up for a cycle ride around The Wrekin on Friday, June 19, with cyclists able to set off from the hotel en route to the Shropshire landmark.
The three star hotel, midway between Telford and Shrewsbury, is also directly on Route 45, the 230 mile national cycle route from Chester to Salisbury taking in Bridgnorth, Ironbridge and Whitchurch on its way. Cyclists staying overnight at The Wroxeter Hotel can have their luggage transported to their next destination on Route 45.
"We’ve linked up with the community interest company Re-Bike Works which aims to get people back on their bikes. We are putting a bike rack in place and hiring bikes to guests. We want to actively support bike week with our staff taking part in the trip around The Wrekin on Friday which is a wonderful cycle ride through fantastic Shropshire countryside," said Vanessa Rowe (35), of Lee Brockhurst.
"If anyone wants to join us we are setting off at 9.30am on Friday from the hotel car park which is next to the Roman museum site and the Wroxeter vineyard.Free refreshments including home made lemonade and sandwiches will be served back at the hotel to cyclists."
Bike Week 2009 is the UK’s largest mass participation cycling event encouraging everyone to "get more out of life" by getting on their bikes, exploring their local community and finding out about the convenience of cycling for short trips.
